Max Vinetz — The New Manila Envelope (world premiere)
panSonus presents the world premiere of composer Max Vinetz's The New Manila Envelope, an evening-length song cycle for soprano, percussion, and electronics. The performance takes place at 7:30pm at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music (Cary Hall). Fluidly combining voice, percussion, theater, and electronics, The New Manila Envelope explores the intersections of memory, identity, and transformation. This ambitious work is brought to life by panSonus, an interdisciplinary duo that seeks to promote and collaborate in the creation of unconventional and experimental works that transcend or abandon codified traditional musical practices.

San Francisco Contemporary Music Players deliver the world premiere of “Scenes from Interior Life”, a new 2-movement work for chamber orchestra commissioned by the Artzenter Institute. This work premieres at 7:30 pm on Thursday, September 12th 2024 at Herbst Theater (San Francisco, CA).
Aspen Contemporary ensemble delivers the world premiere of HAUTEPÂTE, a new octet for flute/piccolo, bass clarinet, percussion, piano, and string quartet. Conducted by Tim Weiss, this work will be premiere in Harris Concert Hall, Aspen, CO.
Mezzo-soprano Elana Bell, Tenor Alejandro Luévanos, violinist Joe MacDonald, and pianist Archie Bonham deliver the world premiere of “Interior Life”, an IKEA-centric opera scene that explores a couple’s inner workings, aesthetic preferences, and perhaps, irreconcilable differences.
“Interior Life” features an original libretto by Soprano and Librettist Isobel Anthony.

Since founding their group in 2020, they have appeared at the Canadian Opera Centre, New Music Gathering, Gifts for the River Film Festival, and the Long Beach Opera Gala, and have commissioned five new works for violin and cello with generous support from the Canada Council for the Arts. Their performances have been described as packing "a mind-bending punch" (I Care if You Listen).
